Yilei Zhang

Associate Professor Yilei Zhang is based in the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Canterbury.

Dr. Zhang’s research focuses on intersection of artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and neuroscience, which include bio-inspired artificial intelligence, intelligent sensors and manufacturing, bioprinting 3D in vitro brain models and artificial foods.


Currently, Dr. Zhang is teaching the special topic on Industry 4.0, including artificial intelligence, generative design and Internet of Things for advanced manufacturing. Dr. Zhang received his PhD degree in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering from Iowa State University. Undergraduate/postgraduate students or visiting scholars are welcome to join group.
